Barnswood Scout Camp has a selection of onsite activities but is also ideally placed to access a massive range of activities within Cheshire and Staffordshire.  Below are a selection of nearby activities and their related websites that you may find useful or give you some new ideas whilst planning your visit with us.

Animal Parks

Monkey Forest is set in 60 acres of Staffordshire woodland with over 140 monkey roaming free, a great day out for up some close monkey viewing.

Peak Wildlife Park is set in 75 aces and is located south of Leek with walk through animal enclosures

Kingsley Bird and Falconry Centre is nestled on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Churnet Valley, a 30-acre site is a unique habitat for some very special birds. In a delightful woodland setting, visitors can now marvel at the sight of rare and spectacular owls and birds of prey from around the world.

Theme Parks

If you’re wanting the thrills and spills that a theme park has to offer, Barnswood is about a 20 minute drive from Alton Towers. Groups can get discounts, so make sure you enquire.

Walking and Hiking

This campsite is often used by Duke of Edinburgh Award groups.  A particular attraction is that it is a day’s hiking distance away from Gradbach Scout Camp.

Rudyard Lake is a 15 minute drive away and provides facilities to hire or a place to launch your own craft.

Moorland Adventure

If you want to take part in adventurous activities whilst at Barnswood but do not have the appropriate scouting permits, Moorland Adventures are a local provider that can run these for you

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
