News about Barnswood

Happy New Year to all my readers.

Barnswood has had its annual two-week shutdown over Christmas and
New Year, so few activities to report on.

Behind the scenes, we have been keeping the site in tip-top shape with
work on TB4 fans, and Camp Hall windows and blinds. Outside we have
been working on the trees identified in the recent survey as needing
attention within 6 months. Storm Darragh helped us in this, bringing
down a large rotten branch and snapping a tree scheduled for felling, as
well as uprooting a couple of others.

Barnswood now has some excellent top-trump style cards for the
mammals, fungi, birds and trees that are found at Barnswood. These
can be borrowed when you are camping and used as the basis for a
number of nature themed games. Examples will be included on the
website when it is updated.

As we are in our low season, the cleaning contract is not operating. So
campers are asked to keep and leave the buildings and toilets spotless.
