News about Barnswood

What a sweltering June! Barnswood has been well used with many groups camping and others coming for an evening. We have hosted the M&C senior cub camp, M&C Scout challenge day, Staffordshire
Moorlands district camp, as well as scout groups from Essex and Warwickshire and Haileybury School. Our volunteer wardens have had great fun meeting and helping new and old friends.

During one weekend’s wardening, Mike and Jervis cleaned the front gates, and cleaned and repainted the orienteering posts in between looking after the guests and having a great weekend.

The Friday Team continue to work hard behind the scenes and have serviced our mowers so that we can do our own grass cutting next year. Do you want to have a go?

We are getting great comments on the appearance of the site and one camper (a warden at Gradbach) even said it was the second tidiest site he had been on in years.

Just a reminder that if you use the site in an evening, please check and clean the toilets so they are ready for the next group. Also if you use the dome, please restock and leave it tidy. The Friday team spent 2 hours just tidying the dome area one week, preventing them getting on with maintenance.

If you are attending JOTA, the booking system is available for you to pick your preferred site. Remember to include the night you are pitching your tents. If you are not attending JOTA, you may not book a site 17th-19th October.
