St Georges Day 2025

St Georges Day 2025

We are pleased to be able to share the details of our
St George’s Day celebration 2025!

This will take place on the afternoon of April 27th.

We are asking all members to join the fun as we walk through Poynton Town Centre to the Civic Centre, carrying model camp-fires they have made, and singing our favourite campfire songs.   It’s going to be loud, proud and will put Scouting front and centre in our community!

The event is designed to be scalable to all ages; your section/group/unit can plan around the main event to make it as challenging or as long or short as you wish.  Younger sections might want to ask parents to join in too… the route is pushchair friendly.

We will be filling the town with smart young people who are proud to be a part of the UK’s largest youth organisation; and who are clearly enjoying fun, safe adventures and experiences.  As part of our commitment to supporting our local communities, the Mayor will be running a tuck shop stall at the end of the event.

In addition…AFTER PARTY!!!
1st Poynton are inviting everyone to join them after the promise ceremony and tuck shop for more fun around the campfire.
Participants can head to  Lawrence Place, Poynton.  SK12 1LN to continue the celebration.

The St Georges Event Outline  document provides

  • Details of what you need to prepare and plan.
  • Details of where your group needs to be and when.
  • Photos detailing the “last half mile” of the event.
  • Some pointers to campfire song resources.

The St Georges Event RA 2025 v2  risk assessment document provides details of the most common hazards and what we are asking groups/units and all volunteers to do to make sure the event runs smoothly and safely.

The RA StGeorges Day Campfire 2025 risk assessment document provides details of hazards at the 1st Poynton After Party.

What you need to do now…

Please start the discussion with the volunteers in your teams at group/section/unit level to plan how your event will fit into the overall celebration.
Start building those portable campfire models and practicing those songs.

Questions?

Please do ask your Group Lead Volunteer/Unit/Team Leader to email me with any questions you have!

We are really looking forward to seeing as many squirrels, beavers, cubs, scouts, explorers, network, adult volunteers and trustees as possible… please do join in!
