William Herbert Bradley

W. H. BRADLEY.

30294, Private, William Herbert Bradley, 324th Protection Company, Royal Defence Corps.

Born in 1857 at Macclesfield, parents unidentifiable. Siblings, Samuel, James, Mary, Lily and Ellen.

William married Ruth Stanway on 27 April 1890 at Macclesfield. Their home was at 20, Silk Street, Macclesfield. Their children were William Herbert, Allen Stanway, Louise, Ivy Moores, Mary, John James and Nellie.

William a former regular soldier re-joined the army on 5 September 1914, falsifying his age by saying he was aged 47 years. He declared that he had previously served with the South Lancashire Regiment, and the 4th Battalion Cheshire Regiment. He was five feet five and half inches tall weighed 126lbs he had a fresh complexion with grey eyes and grey hair. He was discharged 2 January 1918 as permanently unfit for service, after suffering a series of illnesses.

William died, Sunday 14 April 1918, aged 61 years.

Private, W. H. Bradley is buried at Macclesfield Cemetery.
