A fantastic week-end at Barnswood Campsite with 12 leaders who want to improve their camping skills in preparation for applying for a Nights Away Permit.
They practiced putting up a large tents, small tents, cooking on fires as well as lightweight stoves, camp planning, axe and saw work and most importantly of all – how to lead a campfire!!.
Many thanks to all the participants who asked lots of great questions and kept the course leaders on their toes and got us thinking – and to Steve Richmond and Ann Eden for sharing their fantastic knowledge and input. The outcome will be more opportunities for Nights Away Activities for our young people.
