John (Jack) Nuttall
JOHN (JACK) NUTTALL
4179, Private, John Nuttall, 3/7th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment.
Born in 1893, son of bricklayer, William and Elizabeth, (nee, Henshaw), of, 1, Nelson Street, Macclesfield. He married Sarah Gatley in 1914 at Macclesfield.
John attested, 10/12/1915, at Malmesbury, Wiltshire, he was 23 years 2 months of age, working as a weaving overlooker and living at 3, St John Bridge, Malmesbury. He was five feet four inches tall with a chest measurement of thirty six and half inches. He was mobilised 8/1/1916. His stay with the armed forces was brief; he was discharged, 31/3/1916. He was issued a Silver War Badge, No, 230001.
A medical report shows he was examined, 25/6/1917, at Stockport, he was now back living at 1 Nelson Street, Macclesfield. His physical measurements’ had change a little, he was now five feet five inches tall weighed 113lbs and his chest measurement was now thirty five inches. The written diagnosis states, V.D.H. Mitral Stenosis.
John Nuttall is recorded as having died at Malmesbury, Wiltshire, in October 1918. He was buried in Macclesfield Cemetery on 30th November 1918.
