JAMES MORRIS

R/1529 Rifleman James Henry Morris, 2nd Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corp.

Born 1989, son of George and Florence Morris, High Street Bollington. James was educated at Bollington Cross Church of England School. He was connected with the 1st Bollington Troup of Boy Scouts. Before his family moved back to his father’s home town of Atherstone in Warwickshire, James was employed at Ingersley Vale.

James attested September 1914 ant Atherston. On completing his standard training he was drafted with the British Expeditionary Force to France 08/10/1915. James was killed in action 01/07/1916 he was aged 18 years

Medals: 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Rifleman James Henry Morris has no known resting place and he is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais
France .

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
