JAMES HALL

4498, Private, James Hall, 1/6th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, (Nottingham and Derbyshire Regiment).

Born in 1881 at Bollington, son of Mary Ann Hall, they lived at Princess Street, Bollington. James married Harriet Walker, at Chapel-le-Frith in 1909, and lived in Whaley Bridge; he worked as a power loom overlooker.

James attested at Buxton on the 17 August 1915, a man of five feet four and half inches tall, weighed 125lbs, blue eyes and brown hair and his religion was Baptist. He embarked for France, 29/03/1916, and died of wounds, at 7, Canadian General Hospital, Le Treport at 8.15am, Thursday, 13 July 1916, aged 35 years.

Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Private, James Hall is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport, Seine Maritime, France.
