November 2024

Summer is coming to a close and Barnswood has acquired its Autumn glow. You will be able to experience the marvellous colours when you come on November 2nd or 3rd. Barnswood is ready for you with: slacklining, archery, nature trails, craft from nature, pioneering, tree planting, path making, compass trail, and orienteering all ready and waiting.
Over the summer we have completed planned work on TB2 making it unisex and providing pot washing facilities for lightweight campers

In general, the standard of camping has been high but we would like leaders to improve in a couple of areas.

  • When you put things up, please take them down. Other groups may not have a risk assessment for that super swing you erected.
  • There has been quite a lot of damage to fences requiring repeated repair. Please stop your young people from using them as chairs or climbing frames.
  • If you move equipment between buildings (chairs, tables, burcos etc.) please put them back. The next group may not have hired the same combination of buildings.
HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
