News about Barnswood

June 2024

Barnswood excelled itself last month, providing an impressive display of
the Northern Lights one weekend, and then sunshine the next so that the
500 attendees of District Camp could enjoy themselves in the dry
(except for the wet activities). Many pictures of what they got up to
appeared on the District Leaders Facebook Group and one in the local
paper. All campers did a magnificent job clearing their sites afterwards,
thank you.

Unfortunately, we have had some less happy incidents during the month
and ask your help in preventing a recurrence. A Scout hurt himself
falling out of a tree, despite the Terms and Conditions saying no
climbing. Someone turned off the master stopcock to TB1, rendering the
toilets inoperable, until resolved. Two metal stakes were left lying in the
grass on a campsite. Fortunately the mower man spotted them before
driving over and wrecking his mower. Requests on campers are there
for a reason, please follow.

Barnswood has now arranged additional mid-week day time lettings with
sole use, so it is imperative that you book in any visit for a day or
evening with the bookings secretary barnswoodbookings@gmail.com to
avoid an issue.

Barnswood has introduced posters with QR codes to make it easy for
campers to report problems and participate in the warden survey, In
case you are not due to visit soon, you can participate in the survey by
