News about Barnswood

April 2025

Spring is here, the weather is warmer, and barnswood is ready. Come
and visit. We are now in summer mode and all sites are available.

So far this year we have had guests every weekend except two, great for
business but a little taxing for the small number of active wardens. Do
volunteer to join our band and enjoy the relaxing ambience of a beautiful
Barnswood before the guests arrive.

We held another exceptionally helpful Explorer weekend in February
where they; cleared the campfire circle, collected and sorted firewood,
dug a drainage ditch for dome roof water, proofed the benches, cleared
out gutters and cleaned roofs, cleaned building exteriors, repaired track
potholes and tidied up around the dome area including moving some
very big logs.

Barnswood has completed its annual safety survey and there is nothing
major outstanding. We have also had all the ovens, boilers, doors and
windows serviced in the main buildings. Grass cutting and toilet cleaning
will start in May.

The maintenance team have frequently been diverted from
developmental project work to essential felling and chopping up of
damaged and diseased trees and bushes.
