Alex Fletcher
District ChairmanI started Scouting as a Beaver in 1999, and have been with the organisation since. Through my time in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts I spent most of my time lighting fires and generally getting more muddy than most of my fellow Scouts. Throughout this period I was also lucky enough to selected to be one of 40,000 Scouts worldwide to attend the 2007 World Scout Jamboree which was held in sunny Essex and happened to be on the 100th anniversary of Scouting, which was an unforgettable experience that shaped where the rest of my life both within and beyond Scouting.
My time with Explorers and Network Scouts took me through many exciting experiences from my local campsite to the high peaks of the Himalaya where I completed my expedition for my Queen’s Scout award, another unforgettable and life-changing experience.
Since becoming an adult member I led a Scout troop in Macclesfield and have been involved in many district events. I am also an active member of our District climbing and mountaineering team, so you will normally find me hanging off a rope, teaching climbing or summiting mountains with groups of Scouts. Since 2020 I have been in the role as District Chair as I wanted to take on a role which I could give as much back to Scouting as Scouting has given me, and to ensure that Macclesfield and Congleton continues to be an amazing place to be both a young person or adult volunteer!
David Jones
District TreasurerI have had a varied career in scouting, serving in several Groups and Districts across the country as a result of many house moves. My roles have included Treasurer, Group Scout Leader, Appointments Secretary and ADC Adult Support, across Kent, London and now Cheshire.

rejoining in 2010 as District Explorer Scout Commissioner and then took on
the role of Network Commissioner which I left in April 2022 to start my new
role. I am also on the district communications and activity teams. I love
helping people achieve things that they thought were not possible.

Brief Scouting Biography:
After attending Cubs and Scouts in Chapel-en-le-Frith and then Venture Scouts in Buxton as a teenager, I returned to Scouting in 2011, setting up a Scout section in the Scout group based in my home village. I subsequently handed that section on, and took on the GSL role. During this time, I have supported District activities including running the Macc Hike Base camp for several years.
